Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Support Services, Beverage and Travel & Leisure sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.99%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO), which rose 10.06% or 50.60 points to trade at 553.60 at the close. Abrdn PLC (LON:ABDN) added 5.58% or 11.15 points to end at 211.00 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was up 3.64% or 17.10 points to 487.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which lost 5.40% or 39.80 points to trade at 697.80 in late trade. Segro Plc (LON:SGRO) declined 3.50% or 27.40 points to end at 755.20 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) shed 3.15% or 80.50 points to 2,479.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 924 to 885 and 436 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.39% or 7.55 to $1,923.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.04% or 0.70 to hit $68.31 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 1.25% or 0.92 to trade at $74.61 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.41% to 1.21, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.09% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 104.16.
