Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Electrical and Industrial Transportation sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.99%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 7.54% or 27.30 points to trade at 389.20 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 5.34% or 34.80 points to end at 686.40 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) was up 3.97% or 8.80 points to 230.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which lost 5.12% or 49.6 points to trade at 919.0 in late trade. MMC Noril Nick (LON:NKELyq) declined 3.63% or 1.02 points to end at 27.07 and Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) shed 2.04% or 225.0 points to 10820.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1147 to 1047 and 130 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.09% or 1.55 to $1781.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.83% or 1.09 to hit $39.58 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 2.08% or 0.85 to trade at $41.78 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.40% to 1.2284, while EUR/GBP rose 0.46% to 0.9141.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 97.558.
