Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the General Retailers, Food Producers and Construction & Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.96%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Informa PLC (LON:INF), which rose 5.89% or 31.60 points to trade at 568.60 at the close. Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) added 4.41% or 72.50 points to end at 1,716.00 and B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB) was up 3.60% or 14.20 points to 408.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 3.21% or 25.00 points to trade at 754.80 in late trade. AVEVA Group PLC (LON:AVV) declined 2.22% or 51.00 points to end at 2,244.00 and BHP Group PLC (LON:BHPB) shed 0.94% or 20.00 points to 2,115.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1225 to 545 and 497 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.04% or 0.60 to $1,710.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.15% or 1.14 to hit $100.56 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.87% or 0.92 to trade at $107.19 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.40% to 1.20, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.58% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.67% at 106.51.
