Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Oil & Gas Producers and Pharmaceuticals & Biotech sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.92%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were 3I Group PLC (LON:III), which rose 4.31% or 66.50 points to trade at 1,609.00 at the close. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) added 2.94% or 12.90 points to end at 452.10 and Barclays PLC (LON:BARC) was up 2.32% or 3.10 points to 137.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which lost 1.53% or 11.20 points to trade at 721.40 in late trade. Smiths Group PLC (LON:SMIN) declined 1.46% or 25.00 points to end at 1,685.00 and ITV PLC (LON:ITV) shed 1.33% or 1.08 points to 80.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 993 to 768 and 514 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.48% or 29.55 to $1,972.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 3.98% or 2.76 to hit $72.02 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 3.55% or 2.65 to trade at $77.24 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.37% to 1.23, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.07% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 102.58.
