Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs and Household Goods & Home Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.88%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were ITV PLC (LON:ITV), which rose 9.14% or 5.64 points to trade at 67.34 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 5.94% or 18.20 points to end at 324.50 and British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) was up 5.19% or 17.30 points to 350.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV), which lost 1.95% or 15.80 points to trade at 796.60 in late trade. Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) declined 1.62% or 20.50 points to end at 1,242.00 and BP PLC (LON:BP) shed 1.23% or 5.60 points to 449.45.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1314 to 500 and 472 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.98% or 16.20 to $1,665.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.10% or 0.93 to hit $85.58 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.01% or 0.93 to trade at $92.56 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 2.00% to 1.14, while EUR/GBP fell 0.65% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.17% at 111.87.
