Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrial Engineering, Software & Computer Services and Electronic & Electrical Equipment sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.84%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Auto Trader Group Plc (LON:AUTOA), which rose 8.47% or 53.80 points to trade at 689.20 at the close. Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC (LON:SPX) added 3.99% or 336.00 points to end at 8,760.00 and Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV) was up 3.90% or 18.30 points to 487.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF), which lost 10.22% or 1,400.00 points to trade at 12,300.00 in late trade. B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB) declined 3.09% or 16.60 points to end at 521.20 and Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) shed 1.40% or 13.00 points to 913.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1069 to 528 and 491 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.49% or 9.55 to $1,967.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.89% or 0.67 to hit $76.00 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.02% or 0.81 to trade at $80.35 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.03% to 1.23, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 105.38.
