Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas Producers, Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.84%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Meggitt PLC (LON:MGGT), which rose 9.30% or 26.60 points to trade at 312.70 at the close. British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) added 8.35% or 34.00 points to end at 441.00 and Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON) was up 7.87% or 9.40 points to 128.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV), which lost 4.53% or 83.00 points to trade at 1748.50 in late trade. Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) declined 2.73% or 68.00 points to end at 2425.00 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) shed 2.56% or 57.00 points to 2172.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1452 to 766 and 138 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.97% or 17.05 to $1733.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 3.05% or 1.08 to hit $36.52 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.64% or 1.01 to trade at $39.33 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.38% to 1.2539, while EUR/GBP rose 0.02% to 0.8912.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 97.638.
