Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Construction & Materials and Travel & Leisure sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.79%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON), which rose 7.30% or 8.30 points to trade at 122.00 at the close. Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) added 4.78% or 408.00 points to end at 8,950.00 and CRH PLC (LON:CRH) was up 3.94% or 119.00 points to 3,142.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which lost 4.70% or 36.00 points to trade at 730.20 in late trade. United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU) declined 1.91% or 20.50 points to end at 1,052.50 and Severn Trent PLC (LON:SVT) shed 1.91% or 55.00 points to 2,825.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1333 to 582 and 422 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.58% or 11.60 to $1,988.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 2.46% or 2.61 to hit $108.63 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 2.08% or 2.27 to trade at $111.60 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.28% to 1.30, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.33% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.57% at 99.07.
