Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Industrial Engineering sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.78% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Auto Trader Group Plc (LON:AUTOA), which rose 14.16% or 87.80 points to trade at 708.00 at the close. Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) added 5.87% or 160.5 points to end at 2897.0 and 3I Group PLC (LON:III) was up 4.65% or 63.50 points to 1429.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Johnson Matthey PLC (LON:JMAT), which lost 19.07% or 527.0 points to trade at 2236.0 in late trade. B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB) declined 5.59% or 36.00 points to end at 607.80 and Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) shed 5.36% or 105.5 points to 1861.5.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1105 to 871 and 482 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.90% or 16.60 to $1864.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.49% or 0.40 to hit $80.94 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.50% or 0.41 to trade at $82.23 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.17% to 1.3378, while EUR/GBP rose 0.07% to 0.8567.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 95.078.
