Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Travel & Leisure and Household Goods & Home Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.71%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which rose 6.59% or 8.96 points to trade at 145.00 at the close. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) added 3.35% or 26.40 points to end at 815.40 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) was up 3.24% or 50.00 points to 1,592.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Smith & Nephew PLC (LON:SN), which lost 0.95% or 11.50 points to trade at 1,203.50 in late trade. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 0.65% or 5.00 points to end at 763.80 and HSBC Holdings PLC (LON:HSBA) shed 0.61% or 3.90 points to 631.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1174 to 649 and 489 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.49% or 8.95 to $1,826.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.90% or 0.69 to hit $75.63 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 1.00% or 0.83 to trade at $81.99 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.90% to 1.21, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.34% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.48% at 104.65.
