Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Industrial Transportation and Construction & Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.71%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 4.04% or 76.00 points to trade at 1957.00 at the close. J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY) added 3.85% or 10.00 points to end at 270.10 and Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICP) was up 3.36% or 71.00 points to 2186.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which lost 1.83% or 7.40 points to trade at 396.30 in late trade. Sberbank Of Russia (LON:SBNCyq) declined 1.00% or 0.17 points to end at 16.82 and NK Rosneft PAO DRC (LON:ROSNq) shed 0.98% or 0.07 points to 7.30.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1209 to 1026 and 214 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.79% or 14.05 to $1783.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.29% or 1.63 to hit $72.92 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.66% or 1.22 to trade at $74.73 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.79% to 1.3917, while EUR/GBP fell 0.31% to 0.8559.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.35% at 91.888.
