Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Mining, Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.70%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which rose 3.57% or 39.50 points to trade at 1,146.00 at the close. Segro Plc (LON:SGRO) added 2.95% or 20.80 points to end at 726.20 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) was up 2.79% or 15.00 points to 553.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which lost 1.64% or 8.50 points to trade at 511.50 in late trade. BP PLC (LON:BP) declined 1.41% or 6.75 points to end at 471.15 and Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) shed 1.33% or 1.95 points to 144.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 978 to 639 and 488 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.10% or 21.25 to $1,947.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.89% or 0.71 to hit $78.93 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.96% or 0.81 to trade at $83.22 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.09% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.23% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 103.31.
