Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Forestry & Paper sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.69% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which rose 5.00% or 70.50 points to trade at 1480.50 at the close. Old Mutual PLC (LON:OML) added 4.77% or 9.70 points to end at 213.10 and Babcock International Group PLC (LON:BAB) was up 3.21% or 22.00 points to 706.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which lost 2.82% or 40.00 points to trade at 1377.00 in late trade. WPP PLC (LON:WPP) declined 1.73% or 24.00 points to end at 1365.00 and WM Morrison Supermarkets PLC (LON:MRW) shed 0.97% or 2.10 points to 213.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1422 to 697 and 142 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.64% or 8.10 to $1265.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $57.31 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.19% or 0.12 to trade at $63.35 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.56% to 1.3397, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.8810.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.39% at 93.10.
