Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Support Services, Electrical and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.65%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Experian PLC (LON:EXPN), which rose 7.54% or 202.00 points to trade at 2,883.00 at the close. St. James’s Place PLC (LON:SJP) added 6.57% or 43.40 points to end at 704.00 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) was up 5.60% or 31.60 points to 596.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included CRH PLC (LON:CRH), which lost 2.24% or 110.00 points to trade at 4,802.00 in late trade. Johnson Matthey PLC (LON:JMAT) declined 2.08% or 33.00 points to end at 1,552.50 and Tesco PLC (LON:TSCO) shed 1.83% or 5.10 points to 273.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1113 to 558 and 463 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.05% or 1.05 to $1,965.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.09% or 0.85 to hit $77.41 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.78% or 0.64 to trade at $81.83 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.55% to 1.24, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.30% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 104.18.
