Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mobile Telecommunications and Construction & Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.64%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Provident Financial (LON:PFG), which rose 5.19% or 41.00 points to trade at 830.50 at the close. Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) added 4.22% or 49.00 points to end at 1211.00 and Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) was up 3.87% or 7.20 points to 193.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV), which lost 1.14% or 17.00 points to trade at 1480.00 in late trade. Babcock International Group PLC (LON:BAB) declined 0.72% or 6.00 points to end at 827.50 and Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) shed 0.48% or 35.00 points to 7315.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1295 to 655 and 451 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.14% or 1.84 to $1286.86 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.17% or 0.09 to hit $51.47 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.61% or 0.35 to trade at $56.81 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.36% to 1.3394, while EUR/GBP rose 0.51% to 0.8814.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 93.00.
