Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Household Goods & Home Construction, Automobiles & Parts and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.63%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 19.04% or 110.60 points to trade at 691.60 at the close. Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW) added 4.61% or 4.80 points to end at 108.90 and Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) was up 4.30% or 45.00 points to 1,092.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Compass Group PLC (LON:CPG), which lost 1.51% or 32.00 points to trade at 2,092.00 in late trade. BT Group PLC (LON:BT) declined 1.14% or 1.40 points to end at 121.60 and Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO) shed 1.12% or 7.00 points to 616.20.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1004 to 643 and 465 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.28% or 25.05 to $1,981.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.24% or 1.66 to hit $75.74 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.82% or 1.43 to trade at $79.93 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.26% to 1.30, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.12% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 99.71.
