Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Mobile Telecommunications, Beverage and Household Goods & Home Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.62%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 5.70% or 81.50 points to trade at 1512.50 at the close. Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) added 3.41% or 4.36 points to end at 132.32 and Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) was up 3.18% or 2.36 points to 76.66 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which lost 5.69% or 77.50 points to trade at 1284.00 in late trade. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) declined 3.38% or 8.90 points to end at 254.40 and Sberbank Of Russia (LON:SBNCyq) shed 2.76% or 0.38 points to 13.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1189 to 720 and 461 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.51% or 9.15 to $1810.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.29% or 0.26 to hit $87.94 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.01% or 0.01 to trade at $89.15 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.45% to 1.3580, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.8331.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.47% at 95.925.
