Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Mining, Automobiles & Parts and Life Insurance/Assurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.58% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV), which rose 7.18% or 63.60 points to trade at 949.40 at the close. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) added 4.46% or 3.70 points to end at 86.70 and Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) was up 4.29% or 31.00 points to 754.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AstraZeneca PLC (LON:AZN), which lost 1.40% or 152.00 points to trade at 10,714.00 in late trade. Avast PLC (LON:AVST) declined 1.05% or 7.20 points to end at 681.00 and Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) shed 0.96% or 0.80 points to 83.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1061 to 743 and 512 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.75% or 13.50 to $1,804.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.18% or 1.05 to hit $90.06 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.11% or 1.05 to trade at $95.97 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 1.21, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 106.16.
