Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Food Producers, Mining and Aerospace & Defense sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.58%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which rose 3.09% or 55.20 points to trade at 1843.60 at the close. Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF) added 3.06% or 81.00 points to end at 2726.00 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) was up 2.66% or 15.60 points to 602.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Provident Financial (LON:PFG), which lost 10.45% or 68.60 points to trade at 588.00 in late trade. Capita PLC (LON:CPI) declined 3.05% or 5.55 points to end at 176.15 and Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG) shed 2.35% or 13.40 points to 556.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1167 to 778 and 140 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.17% or 2.30 to $1332.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.88% or 0.56 to hit $64.11 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.72% or 0.48 to trade at $67.52 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.13% to 1.3957, while EUR/GBP rose 0.09% to 0.8813.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 89.86.
