Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Construction & Materials, Automobiles & Parts and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.53%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were CRH PLC (LON:CRH), which rose 8.03% or 318.00 points to trade at 4,276.50 at the close. BHP Group PLC (LON:BHPB) added 2.27% or 59.50 points to end at 2,686.00 and Croda International PLC (LON:CRDA) was up 2.22% or 146.00 points to 6,716.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Schroders PLC (LON:SDR), which lost 3.74% or 18.70 points to trade at 481.50 in late trade. ITV PLC (LON:ITV) declined 3.44% or 3.04 points to end at 85.44 and Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) shed 3.41% or 43.50 points to 1,234.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 955 to 842 and 479 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.31% or 5.75 to $1,839.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.50% or 0.39 to hit $78.08 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.27% or 0.23 to trade at $84.54 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.82% to 1.19, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.03% to 0.89.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.66% at 105.13.
