Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Automobiles & Parts and Forestry & Paper sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.53%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Old Mutual Ltd (LON:OMU), which rose 3.70% or 6.10 points to trade at 171.10 at the close. Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) added 3.26% or 51.40 points to end at 1626.40 and Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG) was up 3.16% or 14.70 points to 479.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF), which lost 3.14% or 74.00 points to trade at 2286.00 in late trade. CRH PLC (LON:CRH) declined 1.32% or 35.00 points to end at 2607.00 and BP PLC (LON:BP) shed 0.71% or 4.00 points to 559.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1347 to 698 and 335 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.12% or 1.50 to $1214.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.33% or 0.23 to hit $68.64 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.04% or 0.03 to trade at $76.53 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.02% to 1.2889, while EUR/GBP rose 0.32% to 0.9091.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 94.45.
