Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Transportation, Healthcare Equipment & Services and Electrical sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.52%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG), which rose 5.28% or 7.60 points to trade at 151.50 at the close. NatWest Group PLC (LON:NWG) added 3.81% or 5.85 points to end at 159.30 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) was up 2.22% or 9.16 points to 422.16 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 2.89% or 67.28 points to trade at 2264.72 in late trade. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 2.36% or 27.50 points to end at 1138.00 and J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY) shed 1.45% or 3.20 points to 217.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1508 to 769 and 66 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.79% or 14.90 to $1867.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 1.10% or 0.53 to hit $47.44 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.90% or 0.46 to trade at $50.45 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.92% to 1.3339, while EUR/GBP rose 0.48% to 0.9130.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.61% at 90.495.
