Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Healthcare Equipment & Services and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.51% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO), which rose 4.91% or 260.00 points to trade at 5,555.00 at the close. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) added 4.83% or 71.50 points to end at 1,551.50 and BHP Group PLC (LON:BHPB) was up 4.29% or 103.50 points to 2,518.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which lost 5.51% or 34.40 points to trade at 589.60 in late trade. London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSEG) declined 1.17% or 94.00 points to end at 7,928.00 and GSK plc (LON:GSK) shed 1.09% or 16.60 points to 1,506.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1196 to 629 and 476 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.69% or 13.75 to $2,017.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 2.09% or 1.67 to hit $81.41 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.48% or 1.25 to trade at $85.43 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.22% to 1.24, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.16% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 101.97.
