Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Mobile Telecommunications and Industrial Engineering sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were ITV PLC (LON:ITV), which rose 3.77% or 5.90 points to trade at 162.30 at the close. Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF) added 3.00% or 7.60 points to end at 261.20 and Schroders PLC (LON:SDR) was up 2.85% or 85.00 points to 3065.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tesco PLC (LON:TSCO), which lost 8.59% or 20.20 points to trade at 215.00 in late trade. DCC plc (LON:DCC) declined 2.95% or 210.0 points to end at 6910.0 and Ferguson Plc (LON:FERG) shed 1.82% or 111.00 points to 5972.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1106 to 908 and 271 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.28% or 3.40 to $1203.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.43% or 0.32 to hit $75.55 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.66% or 0.56 to trade at $85.36 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.04% to 1.2992, while EUR/GBP fell 0.29% to 0.8871.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 95.32.
