Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Travel & Leisure, Automobiles & Parts and Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (LON:IHG), which rose 4.13% or 206.00 points to trade at 5,192.00 at the close. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) added 3.78% or 3.40 points to end at 93.43 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) was up 3.69% or 5.18 points to 145.48 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ITV PLC (LON:ITV), which lost 2.63% or 2.08 points to trade at 77.02 in late trade. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 2.29% or 18.80 points to end at 804.00 and Samsung Electronics Co Ltd DRC (LON:0593xq) shed 2.12% or 29.50 points to 1,360.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1006 to 698 and 529 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.54% or 10.70 to $1,974.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.41% or 1.47 to hit $105.72 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.54% or 1.68 to trade at $110.46 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.42% to 1.31, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.23% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.53% at 100.44.
