Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Healthcare Equipment & Services, Mining and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.44%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Smith & Nephew PLC (LON:SN), which rose 3.29% or 50.00 points to trade at 1569.00 at the close. Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) added 2.33% or 45.20 points to end at 1980.80 and Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) was up 2.16% or 7.30 points to 344.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Intu Properties PLC (LON:INTUP), which lost 4.09% or 4.10 points to trade at 96.10 in late trade. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) declined 2.10% or 24.00 points to end at 1117.00 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) shed 2.05% or 11.00 points to 525.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1061 to 972 and 339 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.70% or 8.95 to $1280.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.63% or 0.39 to hit $62.20 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.64% or 0.45 to trade at $71.20 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.90% to 1.3152, while EUR/GBP fell 0.69% to 0.8514.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 97.285.
