Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Gas, Water & Multiutilities and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.43%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 6.18% or 18.60 points to trade at 319.60 at the close. Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) added 5.96% or 2.87 points to end at 50.98 and Berkeley Group Holdings PLC (LON:BKGH) was up 4.99% or 223.0 points to 4694.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Surgutneftegaz L (LON:SNGSyq), which lost 2.70% or 0.14 points to trade at 5.04 in late trade. CRH PLC (LON:CRH) declined 1.90% or 57.0 points to end at 2944.0 and Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC (LON:SPX) shed 1.82% or 195.0 points to 10500.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1089 to 1058 and 151 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.66% or 12.75 to $1943.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.44% or 0.60 to hit $41.00 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.77% or 0.34 to trade at $43.56 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.52% to 1.2949, while EUR/GBP fell 0.63% to 0.9063.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 93.578.
