Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Food Producers, Mobile Telecommunications and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.42% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF), which rose 5.35% or 107.00 points to trade at 2,108.00 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 3.31% or 14.60 points to end at 455.70 and Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) was up 3.00% or 2.25 points to 77.38 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which lost 4.01% or 60.50 points to trade at 1,449.00 in late trade. Croda International PLC (LON:CRDA) declined 2.18% or 112.00 points to end at 5,030.00 and Johnson Matthey PLC (LON:JMAT) shed 2.12% or 37.00 points to 1,711.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 813 to 797 and 535 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.64% or 12.50 to $1,934.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.27% or 1.98 to hit $89.27 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.84% or 1.67 to trade at $92.31 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.23% to 1.25, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.00% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 104.39.
