Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Travel & Leisure, Pharmaceuticals & Biotech and General Industrial sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.41% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF), which rose 14.10% or 1,323.00 points to trade at 10,705.00 at the close. Mondi PLC (LON:MNDI) added 11.22% or 172.00 points to end at 1,705.00 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) was up 3.87% or 5.75 points to 154.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which lost 2.08% or 32.50 points to trade at 1,532.50 in late trade. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) declined 1.93% or 22.50 points to end at 1,144.50 and Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT) shed 1.62% or 15.00 points to 911.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 949 to 828 and 519 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.58% or 10.45 to $1,817.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 2.18% or 2.06 to hit $92.28 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.48% or 1.47 to trade at $98.13 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.59% to 1.21, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.12% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.50% at 105.52.
