Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Industrial Transportation and Household Goods & Home Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT), which rose 3.36% or 161.00 points to trade at 4,960.00 at the close. Samsung Electronics Co Ltd DRC (LON:0593xq) added 3.22% or 39.00 points to end at 1,251.00 and Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) was up 2.88% or 18.00 points to 642.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY), which lost 5.20% or 131.00 points to trade at 2,389.00 in late trade. BT Group PLC (LON:BT) declined 5.00% or 7.40 points to end at 140.70 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) shed 3.07% or 12.60 points to 397.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 824 to 695 and 480 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.38% or 27.35 to $1,957.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.68% or 1.22 to hit $71.61 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.74% or 1.34 to trade at $75.62 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.76% to 1.24, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.06% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.74% at 103.49.
