Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Household Goods & Home Construction, Construction & Materials and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Entain PLC (LON:ENT), which rose 4.71% or 43.20 points to trade at 960.00 at the close. JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:JD) added 3.10% or 3.45 points to end at 114.70 and Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) was up 2.94% or 15.40 points to 539.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN), which lost 3.49% or 14.40 points to trade at 397.90 in late trade. Endeavour Mining PLC (LON:EDV) declined 3.33% or 46.00 points to end at 1,337.00 and Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) shed 1.69% or 91.00 points to 5,288.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1217 to 897 and 340 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.26% or 5.20 to $2,024.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 2.01% or 1.47 to hit $74.72 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.65% or 1.30 to trade at $79.86 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.19% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.27% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 103.04.
