Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech, Industrial Metals & Mining and Travel & Leisure sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.37% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Informa PLC (LON:INF), which rose 7.43% or 42.60 points to trade at 615.80 at the close. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) added 4.22% or 54.50 points to end at 1344.50 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was up 3.94% or 27.60 points to 727.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Relx PLC (LON:REL), which lost 1.90% or 44.00 points to trade at 2267.00 in late trade. Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICP) declined 1.80% or 34.00 points to end at 1857.00 and Abrdn PLC (LON:ABDN) shed 1.62% or 4.10 points to 248.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 972 to 884 and 518 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.06% or 1.15 to $1835.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.86% or 0.77 to hit $90.43 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.50% or 0.46 to trade at $92.01 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.62% to 1.3615, while EUR/GBP fell 0.18% to 0.8423.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 95.350.
