Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Pharmaceuticals & Biotech sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.36%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN), which rose 3.59% or 17.40 points to trade at 502.10 at the close. Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) added 3.05% or 81.00 points to end at 2,734.00 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) was up 2.68% or 30.00 points to 1,148.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Auto Trader Group Plc (LON:AUTOA), which lost 6.18% or 32.00 points to trade at 486.20 in late trade. Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV) declined 2.96% or 14.00 points to end at 459.10 and Next PLC (LON:NXT) shed 2.85% or 139.00 points to 4,738.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1141 to 637 and 473 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.22% or 19.95 to $1,656.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.82% or 0.69 to hit $85.20 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.20% or 1.11 to trade at $93.49 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.29% to 1.13, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.39% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.73% at 111.99.
