Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Forestry & Paper, Industrial Metals & Mining and Healthcare Equipment & Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.36%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Just Eat (LON:JE), which rose 4.28% or 26.20 points to trade at 638.20 at the close. Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) added 4.22% or 284.00 points to end at 7010.00 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) was up 4.01% or 34.60 points to 897.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Micro Focus International PLC (LON:MCRO), which lost 5.66% or 99.80 points to trade at 1664.00 in late trade. Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) declined 2.89% or 57.50 points to end at 1932.00 and Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) shed 1.17% or 1.54 points to 130.20.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1154 to 959 and 238 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.13% or 1.85 to $1414.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.95% or 0.57 to hit $59.64 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.40% or 0.27 to trade at $66.45 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.47% to 1.2514, while EUR/GBP rose 0.41% to 0.8998.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 96.545.
