Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Forestry & Paper, Industrial Engineering and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.36% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Informa PLC (LON:INF), which rose 3.69% or 26.60 points to trade at 747.80 at the close. DCC plc (LON:DCC) added 3.14% or 200.0 points to end at 6565.0 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) was up 3.01% or 9.35 points to 320.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Provident Financial PLC (LON:PFG), which lost 3.29% or 18.80 points to trade at 552.40 in late trade. Old Mutual Ltd (LON:OMU) declined 1.62% or 1.86 points to end at 113.24 and Relx PLC (LON:REL) shed 1.55% or 26.00 points to 1646.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1291 to 815 and 293 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.37% or 4.85 to $1306.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.37% or 0.22 to hit $59.16 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.06% or 0.04 to trade at $67.50 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.12% to 1.3271, while EUR/GBP rose 0.04% to 0.8552.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 95.852.
