Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Banking, Automobiles & Parts and Household Goods & Home Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.35% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN), which rose 4.43% or 27.40 points to trade at 646.00 at the close. Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) added 3.37% or 41.50 points to end at 1,274.00 and Barclays PLC (LON:BARC) was up 3.23% or 4.94 points to 157.88 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which lost 6.09% or 35.80 points to trade at 552.00 in late trade. Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML) declined 2.63% or 60.00 points to end at 2,222.00 and National Grid PLC (LON:NG) shed 2.23% or 25.50 points to 1,118.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1140 to 662 and 481 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.88% or 38.55 to $2,016.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.72% or 0.59 to hit $82.75 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.45% or 0.39 to trade at $86.48 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.85% to 1.24, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.37% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.63% at 101.33.
