Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Auto Trader Group Plc (LON:AUTOA), which rose 2.34% or 13.80 points to trade at 602.80 at the close. MMC Noril Nick (LON:NKELyq) added 2.25% or 0.76 points to end at 34.46 and Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) was up 1.94% or 1.38 points to 72.64 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Segro Plc (LON:SGRO), which lost 3.04% or 28.40 points to trade at 906.60 in late trade. DS Smith PLC (LON:SMDS) declined 2.00% or 7.30 points to end at 358.60 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) shed 1.94% or 17.40 points to 880.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1157 to 989 and 207 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.15% or 2.35 to $1584.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.50% or 0.26 to hit $52.58 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.47% or 0.27 to trade at $57.59 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.26% to 1.3012, while EUR/GBP rose 0.22% to 0.8327.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 99.065.
