Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Mining, Household Goods & Home Construction and Travel & Leisure sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.33% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 5.34% or 29.80 points to trade at 587.80 at the close. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) added 2.63% or 41.50 points to end at 1,622.00 and Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) was up 2.52% or 63.00 points to 2,561.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ITV PLC (LON:ITV), which lost 3.47% or 2.90 points to trade at 80.78 in late trade. Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) declined 3.45% or 44.00 points to end at 1,232.50 and Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON:LLOY) shed 2.76% or 1.38 points to 48.51.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1070 to 694 and 490 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.44% or 29.20 to $2,054.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.06% or 0.88 to hit $82.38 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 1.10% or 0.96 to trade at $86.37 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.41% to 1.25, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.24% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.56% at 100.61.
