Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Travel & Leisure, Construction & Materials and Industrial Transportation sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were WPP PLC (LON:WPP), which rose 2.34% or 22.90 points to trade at 1002.50 at the close. BHP Group PLC (LON:BHPB) added 2.13% or 45.00 points to end at 2160.00 and CRH PLC (LON:CRH) was up 2.12% or 78.0 points to 3766.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF), which lost 4.28% or 615.0 points to trade at 13755.0 in late trade. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) declined 2.45% or 4.70 points to end at 187.48 and Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) shed 1.84% or 2.30 points to 123.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1265 to 842 and 223 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.08% or 1.35 to $1778.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.02% or 0.75 to hit $74.05 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.65% or 0.49 to trade at $76.05 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.15% to 1.3901, while EUR/GBP rose 0.26% to 0.8589.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 91.763.
