Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrial Transportation, Oil & Gas Producers and Aerospace & Defense sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Intertek Group PLC (LON:ITRK), which rose 3.42% or 131.00 points to trade at 3,960.00 at the close. Johnson Matthey PLC (LON:JMAT) added 2.45% or 37.50 points to end at 1,570.00 and Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) was up 1.59% or 75.00 points to 4,800.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD), which lost 5.41% or 4.05 points to trade at 70.87 in late trade. Whitbread PLC (LON:WTB) declined 4.19% or 140.00 points to end at 3,204.00 and British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) shed 4.06% or 14.70 points to 347.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 838 to 748 and 481 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.03% or 0.60 to $1,992.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.18% or 0.91 to hit $76.19 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.90% or 0.74 to trade at $81.22 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.36% to 1.25, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.18% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 103.64.
