Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Engineering, Industrial Metals & Mining and Life Insurance/Assurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Intu Properties PLC (LON:INTUP), which rose 2.61% or 5.50 points to trade at 216.00 at the close. Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS) added 2.29% or 5.90 points to end at 263.50 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) was up 2.28% or 35.00 points to 1568.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Capita PLC (LON:CPI), which lost 3.65% or 5.80 points to trade at 152.90 in late trade. Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) declined 3.27% or 6.15 points to end at 182.00 and Paddy Power Betfair PLC (LON:PPB) shed 2.88% or 220.00 points to 7425.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 991 to 930 and 151 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.46% or 6.00 to $1311.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 2.17% or 1.35 to hit $63.48 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 1.94% or 1.28 to trade at $67.33 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.15% to 1.4003, while EUR/GBP fell 0.43% to 0.8758.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.47% at 89.89.
