Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Mobile Telecommunications, Banking and Aerospace & Defense sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.27% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Centrica PLC (LON:CNA), which rose 5.72% or 5.64 points to trade at 104.20 at the close. Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) added 4.11% or 30.00 points to end at 759.20 and BT Group PLC (LON:BT) was up 2.86% or 3.95 points to 142.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB), which lost 3.63% or 74.50 points to trade at 1,978.50 in late trade. Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) declined 1.95% or 17.20 points to end at 866.40 and 3I Group PLC (LON:III) shed 1.91% or 32.00 points to 1,641.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 997 to 816 and 471 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.34% or 6.25 to $1,851.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.08% or 0.06 to hit $78.53 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.14% or 0.12 to trade at $85.26 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 1.20, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.16% to 0.89.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 103.80.
