Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Food Producers, Automobiles & Parts and Industrial Engineering sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.26% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF), which rose 5.56% or 125.00 points to trade at 2374.00 at the close. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) added 4.46% or 32.80 points to end at 769.00 and Schroders PLC (LON:SDR) was up 4.26% or 133.00 points to 3253.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU), which lost 2.17% or 18.80 points to trade at 845.60 in late trade. Experian PLC (LON:EXPN) declined 2.11% or 51.00 points to end at 2368.00 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) shed 1.91% or 13.80 points to 707.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1118 to 1007 and 217 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.74% or 26.35 to $1484.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.96% or 0.54 to hit $57.08 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.97% or 0.60 to trade at $62.73 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.01% to 1.2881, while EUR/GBP fell 0.43% to 0.8597.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.39% at 97.745.
