Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Software & Computer Services, Chemicals and Travel & Leisure sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which rose 12.66% or 115.10 points to trade at 1,024.50 at the close. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) added 3.63% or 20.00 points to end at 571.50 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) was up 3.62% or 14.00 points to 400.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which lost 4.22% or 28.60 points to trade at 648.60 in late trade. Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) declined 2.71% or 2.03 points to end at 72.85 and Segro Plc (LON:SGRO) shed 2.65% or 21.20 points to 779.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 975 to 748 and 501 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.37% or 7.25 to $1,969.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 3.90% or 2.74 to hit $67.43 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 3.48% or 2.60 to trade at $72.19 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.50% to 1.25, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.48% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 103.28.
