Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Beverage and Industrial Transportation sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.23% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV), which rose 1.87% or 17.00 points to trade at 927.00 at the close. Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) added 1.35% or 74.00 points to end at 5,574.00 and Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO) was up 1.33% or 8.40 points to 639.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included WPP PLC (LON:WPP), which lost 4.21% or 36.40 points to trade at 828.00 in late trade. Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) declined 2.98% or 32.00 points to end at 1,043.50 and ITV PLC (LON:ITV) shed 2.42% or 1.70 points to 68.58.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 875 to 755 and 481 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.24% or 4.65 to $1,966.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.53% or 1.16 to hit $76.81 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.42% or 1.13 to trade at $80.77 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 1.29, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.03% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 100.78.
