Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrial Transportation, Travel & Leisure and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF), which rose 3.20% or 470.00 points to trade at 15,155.00 at the close. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) added 2.81% or 16.00 points to end at 584.50 and Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) was up 2.12% or 108.00 points to 5,202.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 1.76% or 10.40 points to trade at 581.60 in late trade. BHP Group PLC (LON:BHPB) declined 1.13% or 25.50 points to end at 2,232.00 and National Grid PLC (LON:NG) shed 1.04% or 10.40 points to 988.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 852 to 797 and 477 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.08% or 1.45 to $1,931.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.97% or 0.72 to hit $73.14 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.88% or 0.69 to trade at $77.78 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 1.28, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.16% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 101.74.
