Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrial Transportation, Financial Services and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were 3I Group PLC (LON:III), which rose 9.18% or 134.00 points to trade at 1,594.00 at the close. Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICP) added 6.79% or 88.00 points to end at 1,385.00 and Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) was up 4.28% or 216.00 points to 5,268.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Diageo PLC (LON:DGE), which lost 5.52% or 203.00 points to trade at 3,472.00 in late trade. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) declined 2.01% or 14.00 points to end at 683.00 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) shed 1.99% or 3.75 points to 184.45.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1106 to 710 and 468 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.77% or 14.90 to $1,927.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.55% or 1.24 to hit $81.39 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.60% or 1.38 to trade at $87.50 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.13% to 1.24, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.26% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 101.79.
