Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Chemicals, Tobacco and Electrical sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 1.76% or 13.00 points to trade at 750.60 at the close. Croda International PLC (LON:CRDA) added 1.66% or 88.00 points to end at 5,390.00 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) was up 1.52% or 8.40 points to 561.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which lost 5.53% or 28.30 points to trade at 483.20 in late trade. Aviva PLC (LON:AV) declined 2.58% or 9.80 points to end at 370.80 and Legal & General Group PLC (LON:LGEN) shed 2.55% or 5.60 points to 214.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 848 to 731 and 539 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.14% or 2.65 to $1,945.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.34% or 0.27 to hit $79.16 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.28% or 0.23 to trade at $83.44 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.83% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.43% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.45% at 103.80.
