Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Travel & Leisure and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICP), which rose 3.06% or 40.50 points to trade at 1,365.50 at the close. Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) added 3.03% or 19.20 points to end at 653.20 and Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML) was up 2.53% or 57.00 points to 2,306.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD), which lost 1.73% or 1.44 points to trade at 81.65 in late trade. Halma PLC (LON:HLMA) declined 1.72% or 43.00 points to end at 2,455.00 and Smiths Group PLC (LON:SMIN) shed 1.49% or 25.50 points to 1,685.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 902 to 823 and 510 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.07% or 1.45 to $1,980.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.85% or 0.61 to hit $72.30 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.85% or 0.64 to trade at $76.22 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.12% to 1.24, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.20% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 103.13.
