Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas Producers, Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Shell PLC (LON:SHEL), which rose 5.46% or 125.50 points to trade at 2,425.00 at the close. BP PLC (LON:BP) added 3.41% or 15.90 points to end at 481.90 and Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON) was up 2.92% or 3.30 points to 116.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO), which lost 3.70% or 179.00 points to trade at 4,664.00 in late trade. Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH) declined 3.36% or 64.00 points to end at 1,840.00 and BHP Group PLC (LON:BHPB) shed 3.14% or 70.00 points to 2,158.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 909 to 883 and 489 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.29% or 4.85 to $1,664.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.68% or 1.48 to hit $89.39 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.44% or 1.35 to trade at $95.14 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.28% to 1.16, while EUR/GBP fell 0.58% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.54% at 110.14.
